The Sony HMZ-T1 has been out for more than a year now. Although theres not a unit in everyones home, it has been pretty successful (even considering the $800 price tag). Last May, Datura was asked by Sony to make an immersive VR environment using the HMZ-T1. This is a pretty cool video with some good behind the scenes coverage:
About the HMZ-T1: "Its 3D, HD, and customized to fit you. The Personal 3D Viewer packs innovative technology into a lightweight device, delivering unparalleled home entertainment in an immersive environment. Sit back and enjoy, without anyone kicking your seat." See all of the Personal 3D Veiwer's information here at Sony's website.
