3D Inventor makes the first 3D Printed digital sundial. Here's how.
Just saw this by inventor Julian Coyne or Mojoptix- a 3D Printed Digital Sundial. In a nutshell, a typical sun dial cast a shadow on the ground and you can then get a pretty descent approximate time of day based on the angle of the shadow. Mr. Coyne using a 3D printer, OpenSCADand his awesome ingenuity figured out how to design a sundial so that the shadows and light combine to project actual time of day on the ground, in digital format.
Here's a very detailed video on how he did it.
You can download the plans at Thingverse and print your own or you can buy a pre-made version at Etsy for $79.14. Given that the project takes 35+ hours to print... That seems like a bargain.
