Just got a quick peak at it.
Doom 3 BFG edition was released on the 16th, but I was just able to grab a glance at it over the weekend.
This remastered edition is the DOOM 3, Doom3: Resurrection of Evil, and Doom3: The Lost Mission which have been optimized for Stereoscopic 3D in graphics and remastered 5.1 surround sound. As a special bonus, Doom BFG Edition also includes the original Doom and Doom II games - which may be the two games credited with why I started with computers to begin with.
The new version is released on XBox, PS3 and PC for 39.99 but it has been optimized for consoles. I was able to check it out briefly on a PS3 and was extremely impressed with the look, feel, and 3D rendering. Seriously awesome and imersive. Part of the intrigue may have been that although DOOM 1 and 2 had become quite a way of life back in the day, but had not played DOOM 3 at all - so the story line was rather new. That said, even if you were into 3, Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission will give you two new story lines to enjoy. There is also multi-player co-op and deathmatch mode available.
I was only able to squeak out about 15 minutes of gameplay before having to go on with the rest of the weekend, but I was impressed enough to order a copy and figured I'd pass it along to any of you old schoolers that want to frag you buddies in 3D. Enjoy.
