Bringing some humor to the world of art - One sidewalk at a time.
A bit ago, I stumbled on a cute little 3D Chalk art charter, after a bit of looking, I found it was from Ann Arbor, Michigan artist David Zinn and the character itself was called "Sluggo".
David is a self-taught artist specializing in Poster art, Illustrations and logo designs, but he is also a " passionate sidewalk chalk artist, an avid whistler, and a haphazard ukulele player." (Oddly, I just started playing Ukulele.)
David's main character is Sluggo, tends to pop up in all sorts of situations around town. Walking, raking leaves, or just hanging out. There is something about the sense of humor of the Sluggo in the chalk art and the way the designed are incorporated into the surrounding cityscape that just draws you into the scene and makes you think, laugh and tilt your head a bit to get a better look.
Here is a sampling David's work. You can check out his whole portfolio here: http://www.zinnart.com and purchase his designs on shirts, postcards and other items at his Zazzle store. http://www.zazzle.com/david_zinn
