Cool idea - but I still think Nitrous Oxide is the way to go.
Total 3D Solutions, who manufactures a line of personal 3D viewers thinks there system can be used to enhance and relax patients in maybe the most high stress place of all - The dental chair.
"Thanks to the Cinemizer OLED your patients can now experience high quality 2D or 3D videos during most any procedure in a comfortable, convenient and immersive environment. This will help them relaxed and forget where they are, decreasing anxiety and stress and improving their overall experience in your office."
You can plug into your iPad or ipods or you can stream content wirelessly directly to the glasses. Intuitively, this makes a lots of sense in using the immersive 3D content to distract the mind from the procedure going on you would be using the minds inherent abilities to help reduce tress but probably reduce the amount of pain felt. if anyone has seen studies on that - please send them in.
The glasses have a Carl Zeiss Cinemizer OLED display and cost $999.00. If you need additional content the manufacturer has several titles of their own that they can load up for you. You can check that out for yourself at their site: http://www.total3dsolutions.com/
