It seems the world is obsessed with the selfie. It was even named the word of the year in 2013! Now you can have a 3D printed model of your head added to one of three body types, in case you'd like to memorialize yourself in a more permanent manner than just a digital file.
Or you could give one to your love interest, as it's marginally less creepy than cutting off your ear and sending it as a gift. That's the only thing I could think of when I saw these, but then I tend toward the macabre.
Nudee is a new "art" concept by Firebox that will allow you to choose one of three body types, male or female, to which they will attach your head. So no, it's not actually your body, but it's at least as real as the bodies in most selfies. You know what I mean, the ones with the oddly curved doorframes behind them? These aren't nude, but both the male and female body types are wearing underwear only, leaving their chests bare (I added the black bars to the photos because it felt like I should).
Here's how this works. You take two pictures of yourself, one face on and one in profile. Then choose your body type from slim, muscular, or curvy. Send your order off to Firebox, wait 3-4 weeks, and your 3D printed "selfie" figurine will appear! Each one stands just under eight inches, so about the size of your average Barbie doll. But this isn't Barbie, it's you!
I can't stop giggling. I cannot fathom why you would ever want such a thing! Maybe it'd be a good gag gift for someone, especially if you could get pictures of them and have one made. But these things are simultaneously creepy and hysterically funny to me.
Here's the sad part: Shipping is currently restricted to the UK (Firebox is a retailer there, for those who don't know) and there is no word on whether or not they'll be shipping internationally. But if you have a friend in the UK, maybe you can get them to have it shipped to their house and they can then ship it to you after it arrives. If you're interested, each one costs £149.99, or about $217.00 US).
Still giggling. I may even have snorted. These are funnier the longer I look at them!
