Re-live the early days of space flight in this exciting, educational and fully interactive simulator. With full VR support. Demo available.
Go For Launch: Mercury is a kickstarter project launched (forgive the pun) by Joe Chisholm in an effort to develop a game that creates a realistic flight sim of the original Mercury-Redstone 3 "Freedom 7" the first American manned space mission.
This alpha demo of Go for Launch lands you directly in the cockpit of Freedom 7. The details of the cockpit have been painstakingly recreated to offer the most authentic and immersive environment as possible to give you the same look and feel that astronaut Alan Shepard had in his first flight to space.
As of now, there are 30 days left to fund the project. You can contribute for as little as $1 but for the bigger spenders who have an extra grand laying around you can have personal items placed in a personal copy for your program.
Quote:" GFL:Mercury is largely developed by a single artist, with additional contribution from a leading UK games coder. Successful funding will allow development to take priority over all other freelance work as well as providing capital for additional equipment needed for development.
The greatest challenge we face is bringing the final version of the game to a complete state in the best time possible. We will address the potentially long development with regular updates to our backers keeping you informed of the overall progress and showing off details as we create them."
You can download a working demo of the project now. Currently there are two versions available. One for the PC and and a VR version for RIFT, There is a Vibe version coming soon.
Please note that this demo is an early alpha and does not include full control interaction. Future versions will include a fully interactive cockpit with every switch functioning as the original.
